This matching teapot and cups/saucers set are the perfect elegant pieces for a special tea party with friends, or a personal tea ritual. Each piece is hand painted with a botanically-inspired brushwork design in cobalt blue, and glazed in a food-safe clear celadon glaze.

The teapot is designed to feel well-balanced in the hand and to pour well. It has a comfortable full-hand handle, and the spout is designed to pour cleanly. It holds 4 cups of liquid, perfect for your personal tea ritual or a tea party with friends! The teacup holds almost exactly 1 cup of liquid, and sits snugly on its saucer.

Teacup: 4.5" W x 3.25" D x 2.75" H

PICK OF THE KILN: These pieces are the best pots to come out of my kiln. Really well-balanced and, in my eyes, resolved forms. I call them the "pick of the kiln" because they stand out above the rest. There is usually one in every few firings, where each element of form and design somehow sings in a tighter harmony than the pots around it.
**************************************************************************

My designs are inspired by the wild plants and trees that I encounter in my home in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as by memories of the plants of my childhood in the Pacific Northwest. Each piece is hand-carved from scratch, so even with the same design, each piece is one-of-a-kind.

This piece was hand thrown on the wheel with stoneware clay. The decoration was hand-carved and inlaid with color before the piece was fired. I mix all of my own glazes and fire in a gas reduction kiln to 2400 degrees F.

CARE:

All pieces are food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe, and can be used in the oven.

When using pottery in the kitchen, the key to longevity is avoiding temperature shocks, for example taking a bowl out of the fridge and putting it straight into the microwave or oven.

When using pottery in the oven, place the room temperature dish in a cold oven and heat it up with the oven. When pulling hot dishes out of the oven, beware of setting them on a wet surface.

If you follow these simple guidelines, you should enjoy a lifetime of use from my pottery.
